Alisa Fritzhand has been a Speech-Language Pathologist for 20 years and has specialized in pediatric feeding and swallowing for over 15 years. She trained at Northwestern University with the esteemed Dr. Jeri Logemann in the assessment and treatment of swallowing disorders (dysphagia). She was the recipient of a National Traumatic Brain Injury

Grant and had the opportunity to be a graduate student intern at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. Her early work experience includes a Clinical Fellowship year at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital and serving as Senior Speech Language Pathologist at the Hospital for Joint Diseases (HJD) where she treated pediatric and adult populations. While at HJD she conducted Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBS), developed a comprehensive swallowing program, provided feeding/swallowing inservices to a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team and supervised speech-language graduate students attending New York University.

 

Mrs. Fritzhand currently works in private practice, serves as a covering clinician at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital treating dysphagia in the medically fragile pediatric population on the NICU, PICU and pediatric floors and serves as clinician/supervisor at the Westchester Institute for Human Development (WIHD). She has engaged in extensive study of breastfeeding, and has collaborated with lactation consultants in supporting breastfeeding mothers whose babies present with feeding difficulties.
